Mantayupan Falls: The Crown Jewel of Barili

The city can be really a tiring and bustling place for us; walking down the busy streets, working for so many hours and going to school for five days a week. We surely need a break from all the daily hassles in life. The good news is we have a lot of natural and touristy spots to visit here in Cebu, Philippines.
This picturesque place is the majestic Mantayupan Falls. It is considered as one of the tallest waterfalls in Cebu with 98-meters high, located in the Municipality of Barili 61 kilometers southwest from the city. It has mini-falls with about 14-meters high. The walk going to the main falls is a breath of air and easy because the pathways are cemented and the bridges are made of iron and steel. Amazing rock formations in the site is also noticeable. The roaring sound of the sprawling waters was like challenging everyone's courage to jump into a 98-meter-waterfall. Isn't it amazing? But forget about jumping. It is not allowed in the place. It's to dangerous. The bottom of the basin is muddy and surrounded by sharp and slippery rocks. The good thing is there are still a lot of enjoyable things to do aside from jumping. Swimming is the most fun and appropriate activity to do around the waterfall. Riding on a raft is also one of the exciting activities where everybody can cross and take a look into the main falls. The serene ambiance of the forest can be very captivating to everyone's heart. But Mantayupan Falls is not just a soothing and fun place to relax but also a home of birds and among other wildlife in the forest. The rice fields in Barangay Campangga are also irrigated by the waterfall.
The beauty of Mantayupan Falls is such a mesmerizing masterpiece created by God. Mantayupan Falls was managed and maintained by Campco, a cooperative founded by Rolando Jimenez and his wife Marlene. The caretaker at the site is Marcosa P. Badayog. She is responsible for the cleanliness, managing entrance fees and rentals. Thanks to them! The wonderful Mantayupan Falls remained as a natural and magnificent resource.
